Biography
I have always been interested in the emotions that power music.
Aaron Barrett was born and raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota (with a brief stint in Cambridge, Isanti county from the ages of 1-8). Moving to Crystal, Minnesota in the year 2014, he attended the Robbinsdale School District and participated in a number of musical opportunities such as the District Honors Orchestra, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphony, and the West Broadway Music Theater. In High School he continued as an avid musician as the principal cellist in the Armstrong Symphony Orchestra, Armstrong Chamber Strings, and a bassist in the Armstrong Concertino orchestra. He began composing in his junior year of high school, focusing on the String Orchestra and its uses. Since then he has participated in the Composers Institute held at UW River Falls and has composed a number of works for solo instrumentalists or ensembles where they have been performed at the Western Minnesota Steam Threshers Reunion, Barrett Music Studio Recitals, and other venues.
Aaron is currently pursuing higher education at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin as a dual-degree student in a Bachelor of Music and Bachelor of the Arts, focusing on Psychology, Neuroscience, Composition, and Cello Performance. His most recent compositions are his “Fantasia in B Minor for String” Orchestra and his “Symphonic Poem for Her”.
